What's a "Die-In"?
A "Die-In" is a non-violent, completely legal form of protest. Participants, often dressed in symbolic costumes, or lying in a particular format, try to provide a powerful, visual reminder of the injustice that they are protesting. At the "Die-In" in Washington on July 22nd, 1,000 people will be try to honour, and remind the world of, the 1,000 people that are now dying daily in Darfur.
"Die-Ins" tend to attract media attention because their visual impact makes for good photos and TV coverage. "Die-Ins" can, of course, be combined with more traditional forms of protests such as rallies, marches etc.
